IVOL advocates for reform of U.S. policies to expedite dismantling the Iranian regime. The Trump administration Iran policy was nonlinear, and to the untrained analyst, superficially contradictory. In May 2019, Trump called for “no regime change,” and expressed himself open to “a deal” with the IRI regime. Yet, Trump also pursued policies that, taken to their logical conclusion, all but ensured regime collapse.

The Institute for Voices of Liberty (“iVOL”) and Code Siren, LLC (“Code Siren”) today announced a joint initiative to provide free, secure collaboration software to the freedom-seeking people of Iran. The service will be available to them to communicate securely, regardless of political or religious beliefs. The service will be provided through a secure messaging app to resist surveillance and censorship.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our great friend and first member of the Advisory Council, Hon. Robert (Bud) Mcfarlane, President Reagan’s Former National Security Advisor. We remember Bud for his service, and his staunch support of IVOL. Our respect and sympathy go out to Robert and his family. He was a great man and he will be missed. Robert Carl “Bud” McFarlane (July 12, 1937 – May 12, 2022) was an American Marine Corps officer who served as National Security Advisor to President Ronald Reagan from 1983 to 1985. Within the Reagan administration, McFarlane was a leading architect of the Strategic Defense Initiative, a project intended to defend the US from Soviet ballistic missile attacks. He resigned as National Security Adviser in late 1985 because of disagreements with other administration figures but remained involved in negotiations with Iran and with Hezbollah.

Within the United States and Europe, there are several well-organized platforms established by the Islamic Republic of Iran which effectively influence global opinion through misinformation. By pushing pro-regime narratives, these organizations misrepresent the dissenting voices of freedom seeking Iranians.
We believe that the cries of the Iranian people are not being heard and we are driven by our humanity to ensure that the voices of liberty are restored to the voiceless.
The Institute for Voices of Liberty (iVOL) is a non-profit, educational public policy institute dedicated to reflecting the aspirations of the people of Iran in their quest for freedom, pluralism, human rights and democracy.
