Statement in support of Iranian workers

Statement in support of Iranian workers

Together, you are stronger

Following the recent elections of the Islamic Republic in Iran, the nation has been facing a wave of labor strikes in different parts of the country, particularly in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries, as well as in the transportation systems and other sectors. These are the largest strikes in the history of the Islamic Republic in Iran and yet there is very little coverage in the mainstream media outlets.

The strikers, who demand their legitimate rights for better working conditions, receiving absconded wages, and freedom from oppression, have called on the Institute for Voices of Liberty to help by echoing their demands and serve the cause of solidarity by engaging all Iranians, both inside and outside of Iran to stand with their compatriots by coming to the aid of the laborers and people of Iran through all possible legal and humanitarian means.

We at iVOL defer to strikers on telling us how we may help them. In the interim, iVOL has also responded by designing a proposal for temporary relief on strict regulations on sending money to Iran. iVOL has shared this plan with lawyers so that an application can be filed with The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the Treasury Department in the United States to request temporary lifting of the restrictions.

The strongest barrier against freedom is the institution of the Islamic Republic IN Iran. The tyrant throws its Islamic but inhuman “constitution” in the face of freedom seeking Iranians. The Supreme Leader of the Islamic regime has chosen the mission of political repression to control the situation in the country and undermine the innocent Iranian people. At the same time, he is reaching out to the west for a compromise in the framework of the Vienna nuclear talks. Internal repression and foreign compromise are the dual policies that Khamenei pursued for the survival of his regime, and to implement this plan, he selected the infamous Ibrahim Raisi, the head of the judiciary to the post of President. Raisi is one of the three decision-makers in the killing of several thousands of young Iranians in 1988.

One of the tools of repression in the Islamic Republic is its Sharia law based constitution which does not protect the rights of the individual, either the workers or any other sectors and members of society. To overcome this problem, simultaneously freedom seeking Iranians are encouraged to (a) reject that constitution and (b) write their own. This means that a draft of the Free Iran Constitution can be prepared by the people of Iran, for the people of Iran. Not a foreigner outside of Iran. iVOL was asked for and delivered a safe platform for THE PEOPLE OF IRAN to go through this exercise freely and transparently. They asked the iVOL directive to help retain all proposed articles but mark it as unacceptable if it falls in conflict with complete and utter rejection and denouncement of the ENTIRE institution of Islamic Republic or if it is not in accordance with the ratified international human rights standards.  iVOL is the servant of the cause of Liberty for the people of Iran.

iVOL has participated in several public forums appealing to the kindness of the freedom loving Iranians of Iran to support and help one another by any means possible. The more affluent and comfortable people are encouraged to help the less fortunate in their own neighborhood. Thankfully, the Islamist government has failed to erase the historically generous Persian heart and hospitality that Iranians are so famous for having for their fellow neighbors. A few bags of rice, some oil and basic foods and children’s necessities are essential to maintain minimum levels of supplies to produce maximum resistance.

You will win when you take care of your neighbour.
